Struma Valley wine route
Day 1 - Drive from Sofia to the northern part of Struma Valley and visit to the Medi Valley winery for extensive wine taste, after which we will visit Rila Monastery, regarded as one of Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical and architectural monuments
Day 2 - Start the day with a visit to Sintica winery in Sandanski. Created as experimental station,
some unique, truly spectacular new Bulgarian grape varieties were born in this place. Without a doubt their jewel is the Ranna Melnishka Loza (Early Melnik grape), also known as Melnik 55.
Continue our wine route to Orbelia winery in the foot of the Belasitsa mountain. Opened up in 2013, with the philosophy to produce high quality wines of local grape varieties, trying to preserve the old wine tradition in the region, dating back to the time of the Thracian civilization.
End up the day in the picturesque town of Melnik, known for the original architecture and famous for making their own wines since the XIV century. The local Broad-Leaved Melnik wine is reported to be Winston Churchill's favorite ...
Day 3 - Morning visit to Villa Melnik winery. It is a family-owned producer of brave wines from indigenous and international grapes with a distinct Melnik character.
Next in the program is Orbelus winery, using organic grapes to make their fine red and white wines in a nature conscious manner, guaranteeing the product's ecological purity.
Before heading back to Sofia, we will pop by the Zlaten Rozhen winery - a modern architectural complex, with a fully completed production cycle, making classy wines typical for the region.
